2009 will be the new start of the Law Schools, which will foster legal experts. In this region, Yeungnam University Law School will be officially launched on the 8th.

 Yeungnam University (president Tong-ki Woo) will hold the opening ceremony of its Law School at the main auditorium on the 3rd floor of the Law School Library at 11am on the 8th.

 In this event, Kim Beom-il mayor of Daegu, Kim Gwan-yong governor of Gyeongbuk-do and ministers and representatives from major institutes in the region, as well as heads of 29 organizations that finalized exchange agreements, 12 institutions and 58 individuals that donated scholarships, and 21 special advisors are expected to participate in the opening ceremony of the Yeungnam University Law School.

 Meanwhile, 70 future lawyers that dream about protecting the rights of the socially marginalized and people who are discriminated against will enroll at Yeungnam University Law School (Dean Bae Byeong-il) in March.

 In order to help fulfill their dreams, Yeungnam University prepared 30 credit hours specialized in fostering legal experts for the socially marginalized such as areas with no lawyers, multi-cultural families and foreign laborers. In order for \'human rights and public interest\', public interest theory, fair trade law, agriculture law, consumer law, environment law, human rights basic theory, international human rights law, international humanity law, education and human rights, medicine and human rights seminar, NGO law seminar, human rights and Confucian society, etc are to be opened.

 Through agreements with 29 organizations and law firms including the National Human Rights Commission, Ministry of Government Legislation, Korean Legal Aid Corporation and Kim & Chang Law Firm, on-hand education was improved, while courses such as WTO laws, international economics law, EU laws, international trade laws, etc are to be opened in preparation of the opening of the Korean law market so that students can train their international skills.  

 The faculty consists of instructors with various experience such as judges, public prosecutors, military law officers, foreign lawyers, etc. Through open and special employments, a total of 28 full-time professors including 2 foreign faculty members were procured. 3 more are expected to be hire by March in order to start the new semester with 31 professors. Three chair-professors, Bae Gi-weon (former supreme court judge), Jeong Sang-myeong (former attorney general) and Choi Song-hwa (honorary professor at SNU) will be responsible for improving the on-hands legal education.

 Professor Bae Byeong-il (51), dean of Yeungnam University Law School, stated \"By fostering legal experts with international competitiveness and work skills, we will greatly contribute to improving the welfare of the area and to minimizing legal blind sides.\"

 Facilities include a five story-high Law School building and a three story-high Law School library. In addition, a law school dorm that can accommodate the entire law school student body was newly constructed as well. There are dorms made especially for married students, while child care is also provided through agreements with Gyeongsan Kindergarten.

 Furthermore, in order to allow students to concentrate on their studies, Yeungnam University procured scholarship funds as well. In result, there are plans to provide over 50% in scholarships of tuitions to the entire student body.
