Speaking at University of Oxford and University of Manchester 
Internationally accredited expert on \'Webometrics\'

 Professor Han-woo Park (38, Department of Media and Communication) of Yeungnam University, who is one of a handful of \'webometrics\' experts in Korea, has been recently invited by prestigious universities in England as a guest speaker one after another.

 \'Webometrics\' is a new academic field for analyzing social networks through website contents and hyperlinks. Professor Park was invited to the Oxford Internet Institute (OII) at University of Oxford on the 27th of last month and made a speech titled ‘Social Hyperlink Analysis, Webometrics, and Digital Networks in South Korea’.

 He is also expected to speak at the University of Manchester in England on the 18th.

 The title of the lecture is ‘Peeling off the Layers on Knowledge Networks in terms of Collaboration and Communication Relations in the System of Innovation: A case of South Korea\'. In this lecture Professor Park will reveal the knowledge-linkage pattern that connects universities, businesses and the government of Korea, and he is also expected to compare the knowledge-based innovation system of Korea with the system of Netherlands. For this, Professor Park will be using webometrics, scientometrics and technometrics as an index. In addition, Park is also scheduled to analyze the internet use methods as a method for interaction with the existing the Scientific Communication Pattern. 

 Despite Park being a young scholar in his 30s, he is internationally recognized. He was also listed in the two most prominent who\'s-who books 4 times last year.

 Just last year, he published 7 theses in international journals for a total of 21 since 2002. Park has also been in the center of the limelight for his research achievements on \'Web Space Analysis on Political Websites\', which was performed in cooperation with the Korea Research Foundation. He is currently the co-editor the international journal, 《Journal of Contemporary Eastern Asia》and is also active as an operations committee director of \'Information Analysis and e-Research Forum\', which is an industry-academic association. His books include 『Media Use in the Digital Age: White Book for the 21st Century Human』(Coauthor, 2006),『Internet and International Academic Information Network Hyperlink』(Asan Research Center Vol. 179, 2005), 『Media and Culture in Information Age』(Coauthor, 1998). He majored in Communications at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Seoul National University Graduate School (Masters), New York State University (PhD). He also worked as a researcher for the Dutch Royal Association and is now a professor of Department of media and communication at Yeungnam University.
